Corrosion is a major factor affecting the integrity of industrial pipelines used for transporting gas, oil, or water, leading to reduced operational efficiency and increased risk of leaks and malfunctions. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques in detecting and assessing corrosion, focusing on the problem of corrosion and its evaluation. The study specifically examined Guided Wave Testing (GWT) and Ultrasonic Thickness Measurement (UTM) techniques. The experimental method used a 20-meter-long carbon steel pipe containing ten simulated corrosion defects at varying depths. The results showed that GWT achieved detection rates of 80% at 32 kHz and 90% at 64 kHz, confirming its efficiency in rapid long-distance inspection. Meanwhile, UTM achieved a 100% detection rate for all defects with an absolute mean error of 0.04 mm, reflecting its high accuracy in measuring thickness loss and determining the extent of corrosion.
