Abstract

A context-aware laboratory system (CaLab) proposes several services in smart laboratories, including automating critical functions such as accurate attendance logging, intelligent energy management, and personalized instructional setup. The CaLab system is designed to adapt intelligently to user and environmental context. The behavioral rules, contextual relationships, and adaptive processes of the CaLab System are defined to support accurate simulation and validation. This paper proposes the formal specification and simulation of the Context-aware Computer Laboratory System. The formal specification ensures the logical correctness and integrity of the design. The Calculus of Context-aware Ambients (CCA, in short) is adopted as the formal modelling language. CCA provides a structured framework for representing the contextual interactions and adaptive processes within ubiquitous computing environments. The Generic Context-Aware Architectural Framework provides a robust structure for translating the CCA rules into a modular system. A Python simulation is utilized for validating the behavior of the proposed system, which provides a controlled evaluation of its capabilities. The main objective of this work is to deliver a formally verified, scalable, and intelligent framework that significantly enhances the operational quality and resource efficiency of university computer laboratories. Furthermore, a formal specification of a CA system using CCA can be translated into any high-level programming language.
